Modern man has eaten deeply of the tree of knowledge and tends to interpret the Bible on what individuals wish it said rather than what it says.
The rift between Bible Believing Christians and liberals is threatening to tear many churches apart. This rift is particularly powerful in the worldwide Anglican Church and at a crisis point in the Diocese of New Westminster, where the synod has implemented the blessings of same sex unions.
On June 15, 2002, the Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster voted to authorize the blessing of same sex unions. In response to this disregard for the authority of scripture, the authority of the Canadian House of Bishops, and of the Lambeth Conference, many orthodox delegates withdrew from synod in order to remain in communion with the wider Anglican Communion.
These congregations then invited international bishops to oversee their parishes. This service was the first held after these events.
